2006 - Present:

Malcolm Property Company, Inc. – President and Chief Executive Officer

 

Malcolm Property Company, Inc. is a San Diego based commercial real estate company.  Mr. Malcolm is the sole owner and licensed broker of the company and directs the day to day operations for the firm.  The company engages in the brokerage, investment, development, re-development and property management of commercial property in California and contiguous Western States.  The company has sold or leased over one million square feet of commercial property at a total consideration in excess of 150 Million Dollars. 

 

1997 - Present: 

 

Law Offices of L. Daniel Malcolm

 

Mr. Malcolm's law office handles commercial real estate consultation and contractual matters including lease documentation, purchase contracts, easements, loan document origination and review, corporate entity formation, land use consultation, due diligence review and governmental entitlement consultation.  Mr. Malcolm has been a member of the California State Bar since 1997 and is fully licensed to practice law is all California state and federal district courts.

 

2006 - 2009:

Lee & Associates Commercial Real Estate Services - Principal

 

Mr. Malcolm was a Principal of Lee & Associates Commercial Real Estate Services and was one of the firm’s senior broker’s directing the retail/commercial division which specialized in retail property leasing and sales. The firm employed over 20 agents, was in the top 10 commercial brokerages in San Diego County and handled in excess of 2 million square feet of commercial property in the Western U.S.

 

1989 - 2006:

 

Retail Properties Group, Inc. - Senior Vice President / Legal Counsel

 

Brokerage activities included commercial retail property leasing and sales.  Mr. Malcolm leased or sold over $100 Million Dollars of commercial property during his association with the firm and was responsible for in excess of 1 Million square feet of commercial property.  Mr. Malcolm also acted in the capacity of general legal counsel for the firm.  Prior to his association with RPG, Mr. Malcolm was a Sales Associate for Voit Commercial Brokerage from 1989- 1993.  

 

ASSOCIATIONS / PUBLIC SERVICE

     

Unified Port of San Diego – Port Commissioner (2011-Present)

 

Mr. Malcolm is serving a four year term as a Port Commissioner of the Unified Port of San Diego.  The Unified Port of San Diego is a multi-jurisdictional State of California governmental organization which oversees 33 miles of tidelands in San Diego Bay including two maritime cargo terminals, a cruise ship terminal, 17 public parks, multiple marinas and waterfront hotels, the San Diego Convention Center, various wildlife reserves, the Harbor Police department and the leases of more than 600 tenant and sub-tenant businesses around San Diego Bay.

 

Sharp HealthCare – Board Member – Board of Directors (2008 – 2011)

 

Mr. Malcolm served on the master board of directors of Sharp HealthCare. Sharp HealthCare is a not for profit integrated regional health care system based in San Diego, California and is the largest private employer in San Diego County. Sharp Healthcare System includes 7 hospitals, 3 medical groups and a spectrum of related health care facilities and services. Sharp operates 1,870 beds, in excess of 4,000 physicians, 14,000 employees and represents $1.3 billion in assets and $2.0 billion in annual revenue.     

 

Sharp Coronado Hospital - Chairman - Board of Directors (2003 - 2011)

 

Mr. Malcolm was Chairman of the board of directors of Sharp Coronado Hospital.  The board has oversight over operations, finances, annual budget, capital expenditures, policy decisions and strategic planning for the hospital. Mr. Malcolm also served as an Ex-Officio member of the Coronado Hospital Foundation Board.

 

Nativity Prep Academy – Board Member - Facilities Board (2005 – 2009)

 

Mr. Malcolm served on the Facilities Board of Nativity Prep Academy which is a faith based, all scholarship private middle school serving inner city youth. 

 

Sweetwater Union High School District – Chairman - Bond Oversight Board (2003 - 2007)

 

Mr. Malcolm served as Chairman of the board charged with oversight of all expenditures, construction projects and planning relative to the Proposition BB improvement bond.  The board oversaw in excess of $300 million in school improvement projects at the 24 middle and high schools which make up the District.

 

San Diego Commercial Association of Realtors - Board Member – Board of Directors (2002 - 2004)

 

Responsibilities included sitting on the board of directors of the master San Diego County commercial real estate board which governs all commercial real estate brokers and sales agents in the San Diego region.

 

City of Imperial Beach - City Councilmember (1999 – 2000)

 

Mr. Malcolm served on the City Council which is the decision making body for all municipal policy decisions, land use decisions, city expenditures, city operating budget and development within the city boundaries.  

 

Prior to serving on the Council, Mr. Malcolm was Vice Chairman of the I.B. Architectural Design Review Board.    

 

Metropolitan Transit Development Board - Board Member – Board of Directors (1999 - 2000)

 

Responsibilities included serving on the MTDB board of directors and overseeing all policy decisions, current transit operations, planned capital expenditures, transit construction projects, annual operating budget and implementation of planning policy for future development of mass transit in San Diego and surrounding cities. 

 

San Diego Association of Governments - Board Member - Shoreline Erosion Committee (1999 - 2000)

 

Mr. Malcolm served as a board member on this SANDAG Committee which oversaw shoreline erosion issues and related projects in San Diego and resulted in county-wide sand replenishment project in which approximately one million cubic yards of sand was deposited on San Diego County beaches.

 

South San Diego Economic Development Council - Board Member – Board of Directors (1999 - 2000)

 

This organization is a public/private partnership between regional governmental leaders and private business leaders to promote business opportunity within the South County of San Diego.
